Anyone can become a mentor providing they are interested in young adults, are non judgemental, patient and a good listener. We welcome anyone with special skills that they feel would benefit young people as some of our mentors encourage the young people to join local clubs, sport activities and gain an interest in hobbies. The essential skill of a good mentor is to engage with the young people, gain their trust and respect and create a more positive attitude. Our team of mentors is very diverse with people from full time employment giving up their lunch breaks to retired members of the community to mums and students at local colleges. All have the essential skill of listening and a keen interest in the young people and the difficulties that they face.

We provide a range of training opportunities including two sessions of Induction Training, Child Protection Training , Drug and Alcohol Awareness, Domestic abuse, Self Harm and Basic Counselling Skills. We have two Volunteer Recruiters whose posts are funded by the Big Lottery and recruit new volunteers and provide ongoing support and training to the teams. Claire Quinn covers the Wyre Forest area and Karen Arnold the Worcester and Redditch area. Please contact them for further information.

All training is provided free of charge and travel expenses are paid.

Each applicant will be required to provide two character references and enhanced CRB clearance ( and ISA clearance in 2010) before they can commence mentoring.
